Brandy & Grant - Sepia Portrait drawn at San Antonio Rodeo

Here is a fun quick sepia portrait by pastel artist, Rita Kirkman from New Braunfels, Texas. Rita draws portraits at the San Antonio Rodeo yearly and we caught her there this past Saturday and she captured our  beautiful daughter in law, Brandy, and our handsome older son, Grant, so well.
This coming weekend I am attending a pastel workshop put on by Rita Kirkman in Rockdale, Texas. This will be the 3rd workshop of Rita's that I have attended and she is a great teacher. This workshop focuses on under-painting in watercolor/oil  for the pastel painting. Never done that before so I am really looking forward to this workshop, I always learn so much from Rita. You can check out Rita's work and get more information on her workshops at  http://ritakirkman.com/.

Scott - an 80's kinda guy!

Here is a watercolor on Arches cold press paper of my brother, Scott, who turned a nifty fifty this month! This funky shot - his high school senior picture - shows Scott's awesomely curly black hair and his amazing oversized, very 1980's glasses. The painting is framed in a simple matte black frame. This is a painting based on the invitation to his 50th birthday party hosted by his sweet wife, Susan. Happy Birthday Scott!!!

Sweet 16

Here is a pastel of a young friend of mine painted as a present for her 16th birthday. This soft pastel is done on white Wallis sanded pastel paper mounted on foam board. I framed it in a simple white wood frame,  no matting.

Another watercolor weaving

**This weaving has a new home with a young art lover in Pflugerville - hope she enjoys it!
Another watercolor weaving, this one also painted on index paper. This  painting had as  its base a linear rainbow of yellow, red and orange. Then the woven portion was splattered on in the same colors over a linear pattern. Again interesting to see what patterns result and dominate. The colors are a bit more vivid than they photographed.

Watercolor Weaving

** This weaving has a new home with a friend - enjoy!!!**
Here is one of my watercolor abstract background weavings...simple but fun to see what patterns jump out. This watercolor was done on index paper - much easier to weave than heavier watercolor paper which is what the previous fish weaving was painted on.
