REFLECTIONS OF CLOUDS

This beautiful poem was written by my artistic friend, Becky Kane.
She is a sensitive and appreciative artist, full of kindness and she has a big heart.

Reflections of Clouds
For Vicki
By Becky Kane

Picture this:
"Nobody could paint those clouds!"
"Vicki could."

And so she did. She captured the clouds and gifted me the painting.

In my healing restful moments,
I sit in my most comfortable chair
Gazing at the subtle, deep and rich
Clouds on my wall - and think of you...
I send you healing restfulness!

On my walks I am filled with joy by
The colors, shapes and movements
Of sunrise and sunset clouds...
I think of you and
I wish you joy.

Air, Stone and Wood -
Just add moisture and they show us
Faces, people, creatures and other things
(Of our imagination? Of spirits that have touched them?)
I feel creative delight...and think of you.

A feeling of ease suffuses a cloudless, blue-sky day.
I notice the absence of clouds...
And think of you...and wish you ease.

Study of Clouds

We have had beautiful clouds lately...some pouring out a bit of much needed rain on us in Central Texas even. The clouds hold so much color and shadow; so many shapes that change quickly. And the hidden sun often adds very rich color to the sky and clouds as well.
This watercolor is on Arches 140# paper and was done on dry paper with stiff hog bristle brushes - I usually paint on wet paper and use softer watercolor brushes so this was an experiment.
This cloud painting is for my Elgin artist/poet friend, Becky, who loves clouds!

People's Choice Award Winner at Georgetown Library WWG show!

Turtle Rock is the winner of the People's Choice Award at the Georgetown Library Waterloo Watercolor Group show! This small and intimate painting is on Arches 140 paper and was based on a photograph that I took this spring at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
This turtle lounges on a rock in the entry pond area and seems to enjoy seeing all the wildflower lovers come and go. I originally did a pastel of this same photo which is posted on April 13, 2013.

Paintings at new ACC Elgin Campus!

This selection of my watercolors are hanging at the new Elgin ACC Campus on Hwy 290 in Elgin, Texas!
It is a beautiful campus and facility! ACC has asked Elgin artists to hang their work in the public areas of the new campus. Go by and check them out! Also my Elgin artist friend, Elizabeth Sullivan has her fabulous watercolors hanging there as well.

Variety of little watercolors

Here is a little collection of watercolors that I have worked on in the past year, just haven't posted them. Two different crows, a set of pigs, a lively pen & ink & watercolor rooster, and sunflowers.

Dusk in Red River

This watercolor on Arches 140 paper captures the beautiful dusk of late afternoon in Red River, NM. We visited this past February and this was the scene behind our condo. We looked out over Red River and the mountain loomed up behind it. The gorgeous dusky light and light snow gave the scene a purple haze.

Landscape - Alaska Inspired!

Watercolor on Arches 140 paper. After viewing photographs that Kathy Summers took on her trip to Alaska, I was inspired to paint this dramatic landscape. The dusky, rich colors and high drama that Kathy captured in her photos are reflected in this painting.
