Christmas Ornament

 

After an absence this fall from Kathy Summer's watercolor class, I rejoined my fellow artist friends for a Christmas celebration and we made these old fashioned accordion fold Christmas ornaments. It was a fun project, we shared Christmas cheer (the "recipe") and discussed our current painting projects.

Bronze Bust of Martin Luther sculpted by Carol Smith

 

This amazing bronze bust was sculpted by my friend and fine artist, Carol Smith. I had the pleasure of accompanying Carol to the bronze foundry in Bastrop, Texas where I enjoyed a tour of the foundry. After seeing the process of artist's clay sculpture to wax to bronze, Carol and I got to observe the patina artisan putting the gorgeous finishing patina on Martin. He is mounted on a black granite base. This is Carol's second bronze sculpture, see her bust of John Calvin that was posted on my blog on December 1, 2012.
