This amazing bronze bust was sculpted by my friend and fine artist, Carol Smith. I had the pleasure of accompanying Carol to the bronze foundry in Bastrop, Texas where I enjoyed a tour of the foundry. After seeing the process of artist's clay sculpture to wax to bronze, Carol and I got to observe the patina artisan putting the gorgeous finishing patina on Martin. He is mounted on a black granite base. This is Carol's second bronze sculpture, see her bust of John Calvin that was posted on my blog on December 1, 2012.

Merit Award Winner at Pearls Before Swine Art Show
Palmetto Sky won a Merit Award at the Pearls Before Swine Art Show last night!
This watercolor is done on Yupo paper - a synthetic, plastic type paper which presents its own challenges for painting.
The palmetto tree was the subject of a photograph that I took in South Carolina and it was fun painting it from this perspective.
It was a PIG -TASTIC fun time in downtown Elgin!
The show will be open today and Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm in downtown Elgin at the corner of 2nd and Main Street - 201 N Main Street.
See the Elgin Arts Association website for further details -

Special thanks to my sweet sister-in-law from Austin, Callie, and our special friends from Round Rock, Beverly and Bret, who traveled out to Elgin last night especially for this opening!

REFLECTIONS OF CLOUDS
This beautiful poem was written by my artistic friend, Becky Kane.
She is a sensitive and appreciative artist, full of kindness and she has a big heart.
Reflections of Clouds
For Vicki
By Becky Kane
Picture this:
"Nobody could paint those clouds!"
"Vicki could."
And so she did. She captured the clouds and gifted me the painting.
In my healing restful moments,
I sit in my most comfortable chair
Gazing at the subtle, deep and rich
Clouds on my wall - and think of you...
I send you healing restfulness!
On my walks I am filled with joy by
The colors, shapes and movements
Of sunrise and sunset clouds...
I think of you and
I wish you joy.
Air, Stone and Wood -
Just add moisture and they show us
Faces, people, creatures and other things
(Of our imagination? Of spirits that have touched them?)
I feel creative delight...and think of you.
A feeling of ease suffuses a cloudless, blue-sky day.
I notice the absence of clouds...
And think of you...and wish you ease.
